Image
The final day is coming so soon. We returned to Padang, where we spent one night before catching an early inbound flight the next day. I just combined these two days into a single post. Halfway back to Padang, we stopped at Padang Panjang for Sate Mak Syukur lunch. Satay is available in the morning, which is not the norm in Malaysia. The gravy was a bit different and tasted spicier than our sambal kacang. An hour apart, we stopped for lunch at Rumah Makan Lamun Ombak.  We decided to tour the city of Padang before checking in late to the Rocky Plaza Hotel. The restaurant was packed with patronage Me with the driver-cum-tour guide We found the nasi himpit to be the best option available. Theme-park located at sub-urban area We were still filled with food, but still had space for lunch. Our favorite is definitely the sambal ijo. We briefly stopped at still under construction state mosque The mosque will be named as Masjid Raya Sumatera Barat The Siti Nurbaya bridge connecting Nip...

This post is going to be short since more than half of the day was allocated to visiting Buya Hamka's Birthplace Museum, the prominent Muslim scholar in the Malay Archipelago. Located about 36 km to the west of the city center, we passed through 44 hairpin corners heading to Lake Maninjau. Known as Lekok 44 by locals, it offers a stunning view of the lake. We stopped for coffee at one of the small shops.  The sharp corners ended once we entered Maninjau, a small town by the lake. Buya Hamka's museum was about 15 minutes from the town. Sarapan dulu... Making a living in the early morning I am enjoying the view... ... splendid!! Stopped for teh tarik One of the Lekok 44.. nope, I didn't count The root place of Minangkabau Lake Maninjau as the background We were given a briefing by one of Buya Hamka's descendants. Things used by the late were displayed in this house; among the things that caught our attention were a typewriter and his books. He was a prominent Muslim schol...

On the Friday morning, Mr. Sindep picked us up to continue with a full-day tour, circling Mount Marapi. We stopped in several small cities such as Bulakan, Batusangkar, and Padang Panjang. The main highlight for today, I guessed, would be the Kiniko Coffee in Tabek Patah. So, let's begin... Our first stop was Sulaman Hj Rosma's shop, located in Kampung Baso. It's merely a training center for those who are keen to learn clothing embroidery. You can purchase their products at a slightly higher price, and the quality is guaranteed to be fine. We made several stopped in our circular route A small shop selling their products Students concentrating on the sewing during class Small pond in the relaxing area Hj Rosma, a retiree of school teacher We were offers with a stunning views over the greenery mountains. The view simply majestic, heading to our next stop, Kopi Kiniko (kiniko coffee). The views while having coffee even more awesome! Drinks that offer in this shop were of cours...
