Indonesia West Sumatra Trip. Day 2: Bukittinggi

On the Friday morning, Mr. Sindep picked us up to continue with a full-day tour, circling Mount Marapi. We stopped in several small cities such as Bulakan, Batusangkar, and Padang Panjang. The main highlight for today, I guessed, would be the Kiniko Coffee in Tabek Patah. So, let's begin...

Our first stop was Sulaman Hj Rosma's shop, located in Kampung Baso. It's merely a training center for those who are keen to learn clothing embroidery. You can purchase their products at a slightly higher price, and the quality is guaranteed to be fine.

We made several stopped in our circular route

A small shop selling their products

Students concentrating on the sewing during class

Small pond in the relaxing area

We were offers with a stunning views over the greenery mountains. The view simply majestic, heading to our next stop, Kopi Kiniko (kiniko coffee). The views while having coffee even more awesome! Drinks that offer in this shop were of course variety of coffees, as well as other herbal drinks.

It's paddy harvesting seasons..

Most of the paddy fields were on the hills of Tabek Patah

Wonder what they gonna used this firewood for..

Let's stop for coffees...

We made a brief stopped at Masjid Raya Rao Rao also known as Masjid Quba located in Tanah Rata district. Built in 1908, it's blended Minangkabau and Persian architecture, which suffered for several earthquakes. We then continue to visit Pagaruyung Inscription Complex, a dynasty who ruled that area between 13 to 14-century. JJust across the street, we visited Rumah Gadang Bundo Kanduang, the residence of a queen who once ruled the kingdom. Too bad, we were not allowed to enter the site.

This mosque is also known as Masjid Quba

Major renovation done in 1975.

Rumah Gadang Bundo Kanduang was closed when we were there

NNot far from Rumah Gadang, we stopped at Istana Basa Pagaruyung, which is the palace of the kingdom. The palace was really humongous, compared to Rumah Gadang. HHowever, it was closed for renovations. Mmmm..

It was a huge complex

A rice barn in the courtyard

The best we can do here..

Aiyaaa.. tutup le pulak

Yet another sumptuous lunch! :P We stopped at Rumah Makan Pondok Flora, located in paddy fields. After lunch, we sat on the bench facing the stunning views.

Jom makannn...

Semua nya sedap2...

What an epic view!

We stopped to one of the Pagaruyung's King Tomb

We continued our journey heading southwest an stopped at Batutabal. We took photos at Lake Singkarak, another natural pit-stop that shouldn't be missed. We proceed to Lubuk Bauk, taking pictures again with paddy fields background then heading back before our tour guide reached the final stop, Pasar Atas for shopping!

Taking sweet times..
