Vietnam Historical Trip, Day 6: Da Nang

Feeling tired from yesterday, we tripped out of the city to Hue, so we only had a half-day tour for today. I also presented my paper for the ICUFN conference later in the evening, at the hotel. So, this is going to be a short post.

VietnamDrive had arranged to visit the Marble Mountain, about 10 km from the hotel. There was a stairway of about 150 steps or more leading to the top. But we would rather take the lift to reach the summit. Several Buddhist grottoes existed and became the main attractions that tourists flocked to. It also offered magnificent views of the surrounding area.

After spending about an hour at the mountain, we proceeded to the Museum of Cham Sculpture. It was a site known as "the garden of sculpture" before the museum was erected in the early 19th century. The museum displays the Cham sculpture found in Danang as well as nearby districts. One of them was My Son, an architectural district that we will visit tomorrow.

About 10 km from the hill, we stopped at the Museum of Cham Sculpture. These are the pictures of some of the artifacts.

The sculptures were displayed in showrooms named after the localities where they were found

We had lunch at Han Market, near to the Museum. It was a typical market but one caught my attention was the one-day tailoring services offered by several shops. I had booked mine and then received my full suit the next day, delivered to our hotel's room... :D
