Indonesia Nature Trip. Day 1-3: Bandung

One should try their menus.
Taking a stroll-down-memory-lane post, yup, it should be the first among our previous holiday trips. I would like to capture all the memories that we had gone throughout our journey.

This time recalling our days when we were visiting the capital of West Java, Bandung on December 16-21. We arrive at Husein Sastranegara Airport in the late afternoon and was picked up by our tour guide. Nothing much we can do on the first day except that we had our dinner at the fast food restaurant on the way to our hotel.

We stay at Fave Hotel located in old town Braga. The next day, we had lunch at Kedai Belacan and we got to see the city of Bandung by car through the crowded streets. We just passed by Sate House building, Asia-Africa conference building and Dutch colonial residence areas. In fact, we do not have the opportunity to take photos against the backdrop of the historic building.

Apart from the well-known of the shopping paradise, Bandung did rich with nature and culture spots. We got a chance to visit the Saung Angklung Udjo, one–stop cultural workshop, consists of traditional Angklung performance, bamboo handicraft center, and bamboo instrument workshops. The performance started at 3.30 pm and last for one and half hour. Ticket sold at 80,000 rupiah per person.

That night, we went for shopping at Cimandiri area, and it was raining heavily. So we kept ourself warmed in the factory outlets.

I visited Institute Technology Bandung in the next morning and had discussions on IoT with Prof Suhono and his teams, as part of my fruitful visit here in Bandung. The discussion went on until afternoon and then one of the faculty members willing to send me to Pasar Baru (New Market), another shopping spot that shouldn't be missed. It is actually the oldest operating marketplace in the city of Bandung, built in 1884. My wife and Nu'man were there waiting for me as our tour guide has pickup them from the hotel. We spent more than half-day at Pasar Baru where traditional delicacies, clothes, silk among others selling at a reasonable prices. Later in the evening, we moved on to factory outlet shopping along Jalan Dago, Jalan Riau and Jalan Diponegoro.

Indonesia Island Trip. Day 1: Lombok - Gili Terawangan

Sarapan pagi  kat airport We had been rotating to visit the Southeast Asia country each year and this is the fourth time visit to Indonesia after Bali (2010),  Bukittinggi (2012) and Bandung (2014). Looks like we made a return every 2 years, that's interesting! We may need to consider other countries like Brunei, Philippines or Cambodia in the near future. Three hours later, we arrived Lombok International Airport at noon. We were welcomed by Pak Ibrahim's staff shortly after clearing immigration and collecting our luggage. The weather that day was slightly overcast. En route to Teluk Kodek Port, we stopped at Sukarara Weaving Village. By the time we reached there, it was raining heavily. It is a traditional craft of weaving center located in Lombok West Nusa Tenggara. Not much seen as it felt, we had  ayam taliwang for lunch at Taliwang Alam Nyaman restaurant, known for its famous local dish. Alpukat Jus (Avocado Juice) is also a must try whenever you vi...

Singapore Trip: A lion-city escapade

Watch out! It is a zika-free :P trip to the city of light that we had on the 2nd mid-term school holiday, apart from the 'balik kampung' to Ipoh and JB on both week end. My wife managed to secure a stay for 2 nights at the 'Rumah Peranginan Persekutuan' where it supposed to be a big family trip with my siblings.  It was a big vacation house, which I believe can cater at least 15-20 people. For some reasons, they had to turn it down. Note: Pictures taken are not in the best quality as I'm still get my hands on the new DSLR camera.. wink.. wink..
