China Ancient Trip, Day 1-2: Hong Kong

I wuz here, HK airport!
We went for a holiday to China between October 18-28, 2013. Our holiday often will visit at most 3 cities where we will be staying at least two nights in each place. Historic sites, museums, landmark and so are places that not only do we visit, we will explore the best possible given that we have the opportunity to be there. As being said, tourists take pictures, the travelers keep the memories.. :P
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
We landed at Chek Lap Kok airport in the late Friday evening, The flight MH432 to Hong Kong took nearly 4 hours, and it has the same time zone in Malaysia, No jet lag or whatsoever, but we still feel the fatigue of travel. Anyhow, brisk immigration procedure at the HK airport made things easier. We had booked in advanced a round trip Vigor's shuttle bus that cost HKD $103 for 3 persons. The ride crossed the Lantau Island and Kowloon before reaching the Hong Kong island.

It was raining heavily at KLIA, I had a lasagna and a cup of coffee
The hotel's front desk was so glittering
The room was rather cramped for three of us. Considering its location to the city center and nearby Hong Kong's MTR subway station, the Best Western hotel wasn't bad at all. We had to walk to the Sheung Wan station about 25 minutes, and it'd be interesting if we can truly blend with the locals.

Am I lost?
It was early in the morning, but seems like MRT station not so busy
On our way to the HK tower!
HK may be geographically small, but seeing it all in one day is tough. Kowloon itself has so many things to do/visit, and so we only managed to explore the central city only. Obviously, we give a pass to HK Disneyland. Really hope that we can make a come back and have a day trip to Macau.

We had purchased in advance, the 3-in-1 combo tickets costed HKD $778 that includes entrance to Madame Tussauds and Sky Terrace 428, as well as the Peak Tram return tickets. We were so lucky, it was a long queue at the ticket counter. It saves us a lot of times!

Bank of China Tower, a.k.a HK tower
The lower Terminus of the Peak Tram
Woohoo... what a long queue!
It is something like Bukit Bendera rides
Upon arriving at the peak tower station, Nu'man refused to get into the Madame Tussauds once he saw Bruce Lee's wax figure. Oh boy... It's just a real-like mannequin! Over 100 wax figures were exhibited and each one looks so real. At least, there were at least two kids zone like kung-fu zone and fantasy zone. And then we spent almost until noon at the Peak Galleria and the 428 Sky Terrace. It is the highest viewing platform.. the panoramic view across the Hong Kong was simply splendid!

At least Nu'man was smiling at Kids zone
It looks like a pot, does it?
The Peak Galleria
It was a Halloween season!
Looking for a better view...
I love you!

Stunning view from the top
Touted as the longest people mover in the world, the Mid-Level escalators runs down to the lower part of the Victoria Peak. We gave a chance to walk down starting from the neighborhood and found mane souvenirs shop and food stall along that way. The central Mid-Level escalators runs downhill for 800 metres. There were several galleries on Stanton street that we skipped, but we did stop at the Jamia mosque to rest.

This was at the central Mid-Level
The best way to burn your calories!

Thinking of the same idea as what Zarin did in his wrapping up post, I'll do the same for the sake of my own record.  This post will be updated from time to time. Some of the trip may have a  specific write-up  and you may click on the travelling month. Here is the world travel map, courtesy of TripAdvisor. A bit of Statistics: Total countries visited = 22/195 [Last updated : September 2023] Our Travel Map. [Courtesy of TripAdvisor. Indonesia Island Trip. Day 1: Lombok - Gili Terawangan

Sarapan pagi  kat airport We had been rotating to visit the Southeast Asia country each year and this is the fourth time visit to Indonesia after Bali (2010),  Bukittinggi (2012) and Bandung (2014). Looks like we made a return every 2 years, that's interesting! We may need to consider other countries like Brunei, Philippines or Cambodia in the near future. Three hours later, we arrived Lombok International Airport at noon. We were welcomed by Pak Ibrahim's staff shortly after clearing immigration and collecting our luggage. The weather that day was slightly overcast. En route to Teluk Kodek Port, we stopped at Sukarara Weaving Village. By the time we reached there, it was raining heavily. It is a traditional craft of weaving center located in Lombok West Nusa Tenggara. Not much seen as it felt, we had  ayam taliwang for lunch at Taliwang Alam Nyaman restaurant, known for its famous local dish. Alpukat Jus (Avocado Juice) is also a must try whenever you vi...

Singapore Trip: A lion-city escapade

Watch out! It is a zika-free :P trip to the city of light that we had on the 2nd mid-term school holiday, apart from the 'balik kampung' to Ipoh and JB on both week end. My wife managed to secure a stay for 2 nights at the 'Rumah Peranginan Persekutuan' where it supposed to be a big family trip with my siblings.  It was a big vacation house, which I believe can cater at least 15-20 people. For some reasons, they had to turn it down. Note: Pictures taken are not in the best quality as I'm still get my hands on the new DSLR camera.. wink.. wink..
