Welcome to our exciting journey through Songkhla and Phatthalung, hidden gems in southern Thailand. Join us as we explore the vibrant culture, breathtaking landscapes, and unique attractions that make this city a must-visit destination for families. From cable car rides up the mountain to encounters with majestic elephants, get ready for an unforgettable adventure in Songkhla.

Our adventure in the captivating city of Songkhla began as we touched down at Hat Yai International Airport. Excitement filled the air as we were warmly greeted by Hanuman Travel, our trusted guide for this journey. With their assistance, we knew that this trip was going to be something truly special.

After a smooth airport transfer, our growling stomachs led us straight to Kai Tod Decha Restaurant. The aroma of delicious Thai cuisine wafted through the air, enticing us with its flavorsome promises. We indulged in mouthwatering dishes like crispy fried chicken and fragrant curries, savoring every bite.

With satisfied appetites and smiles on our faces, it was time to check-in at Hi Season Hotel. The warm hospitality and comfortable accommodations instantly made us feel right at home. Nestled in a convenient location, this hotel proved to be an excellent base for exploring all that Songkhla had to offer.

The next morning greeted us with anticipation as we headed to Chabura Dimsum for breakfast. This charming eatery offered a wide array of delectable dim sum dishes that left us spoilt for choice. From steaming baskets of dumplings filled with savory delights to fluffy buns bursting with flavorful fillings, each bite was a delightful surprise.

Energized and ready for the day ahead, we embarked on another exciting chapter of our Songkhla adventure. However, the excitement was stunted as we we brought to immigration office by an officer who tag along with our driver! It brought to our attention that we were yet to be insured according to the rules, in which the agent should applied prior our departure! Boo....

Our first stop was Hat Yai Municipal Park - a verdant oasis nestled amidst the bustling cityscape. As we strolled through its lush pathways adorned with vibrant flowers and towering trees, a sense of tranquility washed over us. The highlight of the park awaited us - the cable car ride up the mountain.

Boarding the cable car, we were treated to breathtaking panoramic views of Songkhla. As we ascended higher, our eyes feasted on a mesmerizing sight - intricate sculptures dotting the landscape below. Each sculpture told a unique story, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of this enchanting city.

Leaving Hat Yai Municipal Park behind, our adventure took an exciting turn as we made our way to Chang Puak Elephant Camp. Here, we had the incredible opportunity to get up close and personal with these gentle giants. We watched in awe as they showcased their intelligence and strength through various activities.

From feeding them bananas to witnessing their impressive painting skills, it was a truly unforgettable experience for us. Our hearts swelled with admiration for these majestic creatures and their dedicated caretakers who work tirelessly to ensure their well-being.

From succulent grilled prawns to spicy tom yum soup brimming with flavors, every dish was a tantalizing treat for our taste buds. We savored each bite while enjoying the gentle breeze and serene views of the river.

To soak up breathtaking panoramic views of Songkhla, we made our way to Tangkuan Hill - Songkhla Viewpoint. Ascending via a lift that effortlessly transported us upwards, we marveled at the stunning vistas that unfolded before our eyes. The cityscape stretched out beneath us like a vibrant tapestry, showcasing its blend of modernity and traditional charm.

As the sun began to set, we couldn't resist the allure of Hatyai's vibrant Asean Night Market. This bustling market is a treasure trove of sights, sounds, and flavors that will leave you with lasting memories. We eagerly joined the crowd as we embarked on a shopping and culinary adventure like no other.

The market was alive with colorful stalls selling an array of products ranging from trendy clothing to unique handicrafts. We found ourselves captivated by the vibrant atmosphere as we strolled through the maze of vendors, each offering their own special items. It was impossible to resist picking up a few souvenirs along the way.

One thing that stood out in this night market was its diverse culinary scene. We made it our mission to sample as many dishes as possible, immersing ourselves in Hatyai's rich gastronomic offerings. The aroma of sizzling pans filled the air as we explored the food stalls.

We discovered some hidden gems among the Muslim-owned stalls that served up mouthwatering delights such as pan-fried crispy mussels with bean sprouts, shrimp fried rice bursting with flavors, and succulent roasted chicken served with fragrant rice. Each bite was a delightful explosion of taste that left us craving for more.

With our bellies full and hearts contented, it was time to call it a day.

Indonesia Island Trip. Day 1: Lombok - Gili Terawangan

Sarapan pagi  kat airport We had been rotating to visit the Southeast Asia country each year and this is the fourth time visit to Indonesia after Bali (2010),  Bukittinggi (2012) and Bandung (2014). Looks like we made a return every 2 years, that's interesting! We may need to consider other countries like Brunei, Philippines or Cambodia in the near future. Three hours later, we arrived Lombok International Airport at noon. We were welcomed by Pak Ibrahim's staff shortly after clearing immigration and collecting our luggage. The weather that day was slightly overcast. En route to Teluk Kodek Port, we stopped at Sukarara Weaving Village. By the time we reached there, it was raining heavily. It is a traditional craft of weaving center located in Lombok West Nusa Tenggara. Not much seen as it felt, we had  ayam taliwang for lunch at Taliwang Alam Nyaman restaurant, known for its famous local dish. Alpukat Jus (Avocado Juice) is also a must try whenever you vi...

Singapore Trip: A lion-city escapade

Watch out! It is a zika-free :P trip to the city of light that we had on the 2nd mid-term school holiday, apart from the 'balik kampung' to Ipoh and JB on both week end. My wife managed to secure a stay for 2 nights at the 'Rumah Peranginan Persekutuan' where it supposed to be a big family trip with my siblings.  It was a big vacation house, which I believe can cater at least 15-20 people. For some reasons, they had to turn it down. Note: Pictures taken are not in the best quality as I'm still get my hands on the new DSLR camera.. wink.. wink..
