South Korea Winter Trip. Day 7-8: Damyeong Ski Resort

Even though it is the third tallest peak in the world, Kinabalu never gets snow due to Malaysia's tropical climate. So, one of the things we must do while in South Korea is to experience snow for ourselves. The several ski resorts in the neighbouring provinces of Gangwon-do and Gyeonggi-do were on our list of potential destinations.

As I was looking at ski resorts in the Seoul area, I was immediately pulled to Vivaldi Resort due to its 24-hour operation. We opted for a 2-days, 1-night ski package with Sally Tour to make our almost 2-hours bus-trip from the city more convenient.

When we got to the Vivaldi Resort about 11 a.m., it was still early to check in. We choose to check out the ski park. The resort was clearly overrun with vacationers and skiers during the weekend, as described in the reviews. There was a lot of activity in the park and music could be heard just about wherever.

There wasn't any snow outside the resort

Lapar le pulak... makan snek le dulu

It's main center and the entrance into the park

Yeahhh.... jom main salji

Our room was just in front of the main center

Dah merengek nak main ski... macam le pandai!

I was looking for ski rental price...

Kita makan dulu!

Nyum.. nyum...

While waiting for our room to be ready, we had a delicious Japanese meal in the main plaza. Nu'man whimpered and pleaded to go skiing. Even though ski equipment rental was included in the package we purchased, it wasn't until the next day, then after checking into our accommodation, cleaning up, and rejuvenating ourselves, we rented ski gear set for him.

An ondol room with heated floor, nice!

Muka ada senyum...

It's getting dark so we had to get to the bed early for tomorrow's skiing activities. But then, patrons still flocked into the park even during the wee hours!

tido la wei... dah 3 pagi!

On the next morning, Gracy travel representative brought us to one of the ski gear rental shop. It was very pleasant to meet with kind owners (an old man with his wife) even though they were not well-versed in English. We took pictures with them to kept the moment with them.

We spent more than 2-hours skiing, which we faced difficulties when skiing even though we started with thee beginner slope. Scary things happened that Nu'man breezily down the slope left two of us struggling to control our movement. We were so worried! At last we took off our ski gear and walk down through the thick snow. Once we reached down, Nu'man was playing with the snow by himself, then he nagged, "apsal mak ayah lambat sangat".. sigh

Ski lift of the beginner slope

Aduh payah nya...

Lapor dah ni..

After having lunch at the same restaurant as yesterday, we took the gondola to the peak. Additional tickets were required as it doesn't include in the package, but it's worth to get a best view of the ski park before the Daewoo shuttle bus get us back to Seoul at 5pm.

Do you know the name of this animal?

Bila la nak sampai kalau naik siput

Baik sungguh pakcik &  makcik ni... simpan sebagai kenangan

Indonesia Island Trip. Day 1: Lombok - Gili Terawangan

Sarapan pagi  kat airport We had been rotating to visit the Southeast Asia country each year and this is the fourth time visit to Indonesia after Bali (2010),  Bukittinggi (2012) and Bandung (2014). Looks like we made a return every 2 years, that's interesting! We may need to consider other countries like Brunei, Philippines or Cambodia in the near future. Three hours later, we arrived Lombok International Airport at noon. We were welcomed by Pak Ibrahim's staff shortly after clearing immigration and collecting our luggage. The weather that day was slightly overcast. En route to Teluk Kodek Port, we stopped at Sukarara Weaving Village. By the time we reached there, it was raining heavily. It is a traditional craft of weaving center located in Lombok West Nusa Tenggara. Not much seen as it felt, we had  ayam taliwang for lunch at Taliwang Alam Nyaman restaurant, known for its famous local dish. Alpukat Jus (Avocado Juice) is also a must try whenever you vi...

Singapore Trip: A lion-city escapade

Watch out! It is a zika-free :P trip to the city of light that we had on the 2nd mid-term school holiday, apart from the 'balik kampung' to Ipoh and JB on both week end. My wife managed to secure a stay for 2 nights at the 'Rumah Peranginan Persekutuan' where it supposed to be a big family trip with my siblings.  It was a big vacation house, which I believe can cater at least 15-20 people. For some reasons, they had to turn it down. Note: Pictures taken are not in the best quality as I'm still get my hands on the new DSLR camera.. wink.. wink..
