Japan Summer Trip. Day 5: Takamatsu

The ferry to Shodoshima Island was really cozy.
We didn't plan any sightseeing trip because I was thinking just to visit attractions around Takamatsu city, but we had a short trip to Shodoshima Island. From the Takamatsu port, we bought one-way ferry tickets to Tonosho port that cost us ¥1050 and ¥530 for an adult and child, respectively for a 70-minute journey.

There were two things that were synonymous with this island, famous as the setting of the Twenty-Four Eyes Japanese film and the first place in Japan that successfully grew olives. We visited both attractions apart from the other recommended sites.

Here we go!
Here we are!
The Olive Line safely cruises us to Tonosho

One thing that is lacking on this island is the public transportation. I guessed that locals mostly rely on their private transportation; hence, it's quite troublesome if you want to explore the island by bus. We don't have any choices other than to rely on the taxi, though it's quite expensive. Our first stop on Shodoshima Island is the Monkey Park.

Beware of monkeys!
Where are all the monkeys?
Nope! Our guide is not a monkey.
Aaaa... Say hello to your friends!
We climb up to the monkey hill.

The monkey performance is really wonderful. Look at the crowd!

We had to wait a while until the taxi arrived for our next stop

Our next stop is the Kankakei Ropeway, about 10 minutes away, which runs through a gorge in Shodoshima Island.

The view is really breathtaking; i really would suggest to anyone visiting Shodoshima Island
Waiting for our turn in a long queue...
In fact, the cable car packed with tourists.
The arriving station
Here is another view of the arriving station, taken from the front side.

Being the no. 1 attraction in Shodoshima, as suggested by Tripadvisor, it took some time for us to appreciate the Movie Village of 24-no-Hotomi. We weren't aware of the movie; however, this village does attract us with the setup. What's striking us is how an old Japanese village and an old-age Japanese school are being built by the seashore.

I'm strong!
Row...row...row your boat...
Green tea ice creams are everywhere... vanilla this time!
This stream is full of big fish; they even jump in the air. Too bad I missed the chance to snap!
Very nostalgic...

I'm not sure what the name of this game is... buluh berdiri?

Our next stop is the Shodojima Olive Park, where we can see a lot of olive trees (of course la) and a windmill. Not to forget, the wide view of the sea from the hill is really stunning.

I couldn't figure out the meaning of this architecture
This way is the shortcut to Greece. :P
