On the third day in Takamatsu, we both presented our technical papers. Then, in the afternoon, we took the Shinkansen to Kyoto, about a 2-hour journey, using the JR rail pass. Another 2 days left for the rail pass usage, as we planned to use it for the day of Takamatsu-Kyoto and for the Universal Studio Osaka trip. Wait for our next post!

We had a breezy check-in to the Sakura Terrace The Gallery and made our trip to Pontocho. We traveled a long stretch of the cobblestoned alley on the western bank of the Kamo River. We were looking for Koburenjo Theater, but it was closed. Upon checking the internet, the place is only open twice a year to celebrate the river festival. By the way, Kabuki is a traditional Japanese drama acted by geisha. We continued to walk to Nishiki Market, an abundant souvenir shop located along the road. We stopped over at one of the restaurants and had our first sashimi! It's so delicious...
